Welcome to our fifth week of the Sunny Kisses Quilt Along. We are so excited you are joining in on this beautiful quilt using the Hopscotch and Freckles and Country Confetti fabric. Join us each Monday for a new tutorial and video with helpful tips and tricks.

You will need a fat quarter bundle of Hopscotch and Freckles, 7 Fat quarters of Country Confetti colors and yardage for the background in Country Confetti Marshmallow White. There are several quilt shops who carry Poppie Cotton fabric. Please check our list of stores here.

You can view all the fabric selections for Hopscotch and Freckles here. Country Confetti can be viewed here.

We will learn to make Flower #1 first. The center of the flower is a square in a square. Sew opposite sides, press. Repeat for the other sides.

The top of the flower is made up of 2 flying geese using the stitch and flip method.

Sew both flying geese together for the top of the flower. Place all your pieces in front you and begin to sew Flower #1. Once you have made one block you can chain piece the other 5 blocks.

Finish and press 6 Flower Blocks.

The next block is Flower #2.

This is a simple construction using the stitch and flip method. Complete the flower and make 6.

Next are the stem and leaf sections. I found it easier to make all 12 together. Using the stitch and flip method… make the leaves. Be sure to do 2 leaves for the left of the stem and 2 leaves for the right of the stem. They go in opposite directions. The stem and the sides are very small. A 1/4″ seam allowance is very important. When ironing… do not stretch. Place your iron down and press. Keep your block square. Starch and heat are my best friend!!

Once you have your 12 leaf and stem blocks finished… you can sew the finished stem and leaf sections to the Flower #1 and Flower #2 to complete your Flower Blocks.

We are more than half way through the blocks needed for this beautiful quilt. We hope you are enjoying the process and love learning new techniques and skills. See you next week!

Happy Sewing!!
