Hollyhock Lane Fabric Tour with Blue Ribbon Designs

Hollyhock Lane Fabric Tour with Blue Ribbon Designs

Today on our Hollyhock Lane Fabric Tour we have Belinda from Blue Ribbon Designs. Belinda has made several projects using Hollyhock Lane fabric. She has made the most darling zipper pouch, a flower pincushion and a mini quilt interchanging hearts and the panel postcards. You can find everything Belinda works on here.

Pincushion:
Belinda has quilted a 6″ foundation pieced tulip block and trimmed her pincushion with the same ½” hand-dyed rick rack. She also fussy cut one of the panel blocks (I loved the kindness text) and appliquéd it to a piece of wool felt. She cut it into a flag shape and attached it, along with some flower shapes cut from wool felt with a couple of sewing pins.

The beloved tall and stately spires of the hollyhock flower adorn many country cottages. They quietly keep watch over the surrounding flora, like a mama looking proudly at her children. The soft cheery colors of pink, mint, yellow, blue, teal and charcoal combine together to make Holly Hock Lane a gorgeous collection. There is a continuous panel with beautiful images from a cottage garden, including water fountains and birdhouses. This collection has many scattered floral designs mixed with a few geometric prints.

You can find all the lovely pieces in this collection here.

Mini Quilt:

Measures approximately 23¾” H x 17½” W. Belinda used the blocks in the fabric panel…and twelve blocks of Country Confetti Marshmallow White with machine appliquéd hearts from the collection. Instead of fabric binding, she used ½” hand-dyed rick rack around the perimeter. She also added small heart buttons at the block intersections after quilting.

Zippered Pouch:

Belinda wanted to try to use some of the heart windows left from cutting the mini quilt heart appliqués (trying use each and every piece of fabric), so she machine appliquéd one to a small, patchwork zippered pouch. She embellished the pouch with a couple wooden buttons (a handmade button and a bird button).

We hope you will drop by often to enjoy all the lovely projects that our design ambassadors have created!
