Meet Our Makers!

Hi everyone! We wanted to take some time this month to appreciate and showcase our WONDERFUL team of makers and some of the beautiful work they each do. Grab your favorite cup of something delicious
and get to know our inspiring makers!
Melissa Corry of Happy Quilting
Melissa started quilting as a hobby in 2005 but since starting her blog, Happy Quilting, in 2010 her hobby has turned into a passion.  Her passion for quilting has led to creating her own designs that she shares as tutorials, published works, a pattern line, and even her own books.  Melissa loves designing and finds inspiration in just about everything and anything.   Melissa loves designing and making quilts and is quite prolific at it, creating 45-60 quilts a year.   Melissa's favorite Poppie Cotton line is Daisy Mae and she made a fun "low volume" quilt from her Charming Baby Quits book with it.   Melissa, her husband and their five children live in Cedar City, Utah.

Belinda Karls-Nace of Blue Ribbon Designs

Belinda picked up a needle at the young age of six and never looked back. She has excelled in handwork for most of her life and has been a professional in the needlearts industry for over twenty years. Belinda started Blue Ribbon Designs in early 2004, specializing in original counted thread cross stitch designs, quilting and sewing patterns, specialty hand finishing of needlework smalls, custom sewing/quilting, and teaching handwork techniques across the country. She regularly appears in a variety of publications and currently, she resides in Spring Hill, Kansas City with her husband and two German Shepherds. Belinda has a passion for anything created with a needle and many afternoons you can find her in her home-based studio, playing with fabrics and threads, sketching, stitching, sewing, quilting, and/or machine embroidering. Some of her favorite Poppie Cotton collections have been Prairie Sisters, Sunshine and Chamomile, Garden Party, Hide and Seek, and Promise Me.

Dori Troutman from The Red Feedsack

From Dori Troutman, "My husband and I have a 100 acre cattle farm in the rolling hills of Tennessee.   I cannot remember a time in my life that I did not sew in some capacity!  In my memories it seems like I grew up with a needle and thread in my hands!  I love every bit of sewing; but I honestly think that hand quilting is my favorite...  it always makes me happy.   My interests outside of sewing are vast.   My daughter (and her girls) and I are flower farmers, selling our bouquets at our roadside honor system stand.  I'm passionate about keeping fit; attending fitness classes and running are a part of my daily routine.   I've had the privilege of being a Maker for Poppie Cotton since 2019.  I've loved every single collection and my favorites change all the time.  But right now my favorite is the Prairie Sisters Homestead collection!

Lisa Jo Girodat of Neverland Stitches

(Lisa Jo gifting quilts to friends)

From Lisa Jo, "My favorite “fairy tale” is Peter Pan and thus the name Neverlandstitches. I learned to sew when I was about 5 or 6 years old from my maternal grandmother, who taught fashion sewing at a university in the Metro Detroit area. My first sewing projects were primarily dresses for my Barbie and Dawn dolls.  I began apparel sewing and when I was 13 years old.  I quickly learned to design my own patterns from my grandmother. I made most clothes when I was in Junior high and high school.  My favorite piece was a maxi denim coat.  I began quilting when I was twenty years old. I was self-taught as I purchased a couple of books and magazines from a local fabric shop and took off. My favorite projects to make are patchwork quilts. I love the entire process of creating a quilt from designing to quilting.  My family members have all been gifted quilts and my grandchildren each have multiple quilts.  I have also made and gifted numerous chemo quilts to friends and extended family members. I began creating quilts using Poppie Cotton in the summer of 2021.  My favorite Poppie Cotton Collection is House and Home.  I gifted the quilt I made with this collection and truly wish I had kept it (LOL).

Lisa Garlick of Nanny Goat Quilts

Lisa Garlick also known as Nanny Goat Quilts has been sewing almost her entire life. She has been an avid quilter for nearly 40 years. Lisa loves the entire process from designing a pattern to piecing the blocks to quilting on the longarm and finally finishing up with a beautiful hand-sewn binding. Lisa's grandkiddos call her Nanny Goat so in 2018 she launched Nanny Goat Quilts, a quilt pattern website where Lisa's focus is creating modern quilt patterns from vintage sources.

Lisa's favorite Poppie Cotton line is Dots and Posies fabric where she created a sweet romantic pattern called Vintage Garden just for this line. Find out more about Lisa here.

We are so thankful for each of our talented makers who contribute their time, talents and beautiful inspiration each month! Stay tuned this week to meet more of our team!
