If you've been following our Instagram for our Pink Christmas Tree sew-along this month, then you've seen Jina's videos with tips & tricks to make this adorable quilt with us. If not, we're here to share all of our secrets with you!
First you'll need our Pink Christmas Tree Quilt pattern. Good Vibes Quilt Shop and JK Quilts have both stocked this pattern, but if you want your favorite quilt shop near you to stock any of our fabrics or patterns just send them a request! We would love to partner with more of your favorite shops.
Next, you just gather your favorite Poppie Cotton pinks. With so many to choose from this might be the most time consuming step in the whole project! You can browse some of our favorites here.
Now let's talk about those secrets we promised to share with you!
The first thing to know about this pattern is that there are four tree shapes. We call the the fat, the skinny, and the two angled trees. You can see the difference between each of them pictured here.
Jina's second tip is to consider the contrast in color for each block. Mixing light pinks with deep reds will create a beautiful high contrast block and you will very easily see the tree from far away. Using similar shades for a tree and its block background will create lower contrast. Feel free to mix high, medium, and low contrasting fabrics to make a variety of beautiful blocks for your quilt!
Sometimes we end up with blocks that we aren't totally in love with. Jina's third trick gives those orphan blocks a beautiful role in the finishing of this quilt. Jina suggests sewing those blocks into the back of the quilt to create a fun easter egg and add a little flair!
We think this is such a special and personal touch to complete this beautiful pattern.
We hope you implement these tips & tricks that Jina has shared for this pattern and make your own beautiful Pink Christmas Tree quilt. When you do, don't forget to share it with us on Instagram or Facebook and tag us so we don't miss it!
