Welcome to our fourth week of the Sunny Kisses Quilt Along. We are so excited you are joining in on this beautiful quilt using the Hopscotch and Freckles and Country Confetti fabric. Join us each Monday for a new tutorial and video with helpful tips and tricks.
You will need a fat quarter bundle of Hopscotch and Freckles, 7 Fat quarters of Country Confetti colors and yardage for the background in Country Confetti Marshmallow White. There are several quilt shops who carry Poppie Cotton fabric. Please check our list of stores here.
You can view all the fabric selections for Hopscotch and Freckles here. Country Confetti can be viewed here.
Making these strawberries can be addictive. You will make a total of 12. The leaves are made using tiny pinwheels. All leaves are made up of different colors of green from the Hopscotch and Freckles collection. I kept each leaf for each strawberry the same color green. Be sure to use two leaves with the background color (white) and two leaves with the strawberry color (pink or red).
Make one strawberry block first. Once you have made one and it works to the measurement needed you will be able to make the rest of the blocks using the chain pieced method. This is when you can make sections of the strawberry all at the same time, over and over. It is much quicker… but do what works best for you! Enjoy the process of choosing your fabrics and sewing these darling blocks.
The strawberry blocks are small so be very careful when cutting… measure twice and cut once. Check your 1/4″ on your sewing machine. Whenever you are sewing something small you must be vigilant about your cutting and 1/4″ seam allowance… this will produce the perfect block!
Happy Sewing!!
