Today is the Treasured Threads Fabric Tour with Belinda from Blue Ribbon Designs. Belinda has made several gorgeous projects… a sewing machine dust cover and machine mat called “Bluebird in My Heart” – plus a pincushion that uses the selvage. You can find Belinda and her patterns available here.
Treasured Threads fabric collection shares a story about the love of thread… the love of crochet, needlework, embroidery and sewing come together to inspire and bring joy to our soul. The color combinations of vibrant red, deep orange, soft pink, rich teal, sweet blue, dark and light yellow, cream and white highlight each design. It brags a modern, retro vibe. The sparrow is the mascot and soars amidst the flowers and geometric prints which include doilies, crochet and colorful grids.
The bird blocks are foundation paper-pieced, the heart is machine applique, and everything else is traditional piecing. Together, the bird blocks create one large pocket on the sewing machine cover – perfect for the machine pedal, power cord, quilt patterns and/or the manual. The smaller pockets on the reverse side are made for sewing/stitching tools – such as a seam ripper, scissors, rulers, marking utensils, tweezers, etc.
When it is not acting as a dust cover, it can be placed under the sewing machine as a mat/pad and the pockets hang down to keep tools handy. Belinda used the fat quarter bundle and a yard of Country confetti Waffle Cone. All fabrics are Poppie Cotton.
We love the sweetness of the selvedge as an embellisment.
