Welcome to Betsy’s Sewing Kit Fabric Tour with Kristen from Verity Vintage Studio. We love the 1940’s pinafores using Betsy’s Sewing Kit fabric. You can find Kristen here.
Betsy’s Sewing Kit is a nostalgic memory from the McCalls magazine that used to come to your home each month. There was an iconic paper doll call Betsy McCall. This collection reaches into the past to bring relevance to what Betsy would have in her sewing kit. The beautiful color palette of navy blue, bright reds, pinks, teals, mints and yellows are a glorious combination that makes you want to head to your sewing room to play all day. There are darling strawberries, quilt patterns, baby chicks, tea kettles and many floral designs.
The pattern for the little girls dress is a vintage DuBarry 5643 pattern. Kristen did a little color blocking with a coordinating print, which stretches the fabric further and accents the design elements of the dress pattern.
For the coordinating pinafore, Kristen did an apron pattern that is a reissued Simplicity pattern from a while ago. The pattern is elaborate and took some time to make and place the coordinating panels into the apron front. We love everything about this beautiful photo shoot. It takes you back in time and we wish we could be baking in this lovely kitchen with Kristen and her adorable baby girl.
Betsy’s Sewing Kit fabric can be found here. The Farmhouse Favorites are also a great addition for adding color to this fabric collection. You can find those here.
