12 Days of Valentines! Day 12

12 Days of Valentines! Day 12

Hi there and welcome back to our 12 Days Of Valentines event. We have had so much fun seeing what our makers have made and we are so thankful to each one who made this such a fun and inspiring time. We hope you have taken a chance to sew up one of these sweet projects and if you haven't they are all saved here and on social media for when you are ready to make something cute.

Jina Barney has made some darling fabric heart wands for Valentines. All the fabrics are from Poppie Cotton, using her favorite colors red and pink! We love this bit of inspiration and all you need are some scraps and creativity to make your own sweet gift. Head over to Jina's for more details!

You will need the following fabric:
16 squares 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" (measures 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" unfinished)
1 each batting and backing fabric 5 1/2" x 5 1/2"
heart template below
Optional:
skewer
bead
ribbon
glue gun
Sew the 16 squares together into 4 rows of 4 squares. Layer the 16 squares, batting and backing. Hand stitch or machine quilt through all layers.
Drag and copy this heart template. It should fit on a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" square.
Trace outline of heart onto the 16 sewn squares. Cut out heart on traced line.
Stitch around raw edges to hold together.
For the plain heart, cut a 4 1/2" x 4 1/2" top, batting and back. Trace heart on the top layer to show an outline of where you should quilt.  Layer top, batting then back. Hand stitch or machine quilt through all layers.
Cut out heart shape on traced line.
Enjoy making as many hearts as you like. These would make a darling Valentines garland and many other fun Valentines gifts. Jina has made these hearts into a fabric heart wand.
Using a skewer, glue a bead to the pointed end. Glue the heart about 1/2" down, leaving room to tie some ribbons at the top.
These are so addictive to make and look beautiful in a flower arrangement or by themself on your table.
Embellish these until your hearts content!
Placed in a vase and use as a table setting, these will add charm and cuteness to any special occasion!
We hope you have enjoyed this event as much as we have and we look forward to sharing more inspiration and sew-alongs with you this year. Stay tuned for more fun and thank you for following along with us.
