Sunny Kisses Quilt Along Week 9

Sunny Kisses Quilt Along Week 9

Welcome to our final Week 9 of the Sunny Kisses Quilt Along. We are so excited you are joining in on this beautiful quilt using the Hopscotch and Freckles and Country Confetti fabric. This is our final video and tutorial for the Quilt Along. We have had so much fun making this quilt along side each of you.

You can still buy this collection and will find it available at your favorite quilt shop. You will need a fat quarter bundle of Hopscotch and Freckles, 7 Fat quarters of Country Confetti colors and yardage for the background in Country Confetti Marshmallow White. There are several quilt shops who carry Poppie Cotton fabric. Please check our list of stores here.

You can view all the fabric selections for Hopscotch and Freckles here. Country Confetti can be viewed here.

This week is all about assembling the blocks you have been making the past 8 weeks. In the video below, I show you how construct each row.

We first begin with the blocks that can be sewn together without any sashing. The House Row, Star Row, Flower #1 and #2 Rows and the Kiss Hug Row.

To make each of these rows, you will sew the blocks together side by side. Be sure to match seams. If your seams are bulky then press open. If there is no bulk you can sandwich the seams and press to one side.

There are a few tips and tricks in the video for lining up blocks and centering.

One of the things that is very important with this quilt and assembling the blocks is to make sure to press. I love to use starch and press seams open or to one side depending on how much bulk there is.

Your long arm quilter will praise you for having such a nice, tidy, flat quilt top. Pressing is so important!

The next few rows… Strawberry Row, Chicken Row and Bunting Row all have sashing. Read the instructions in the pattern. The larger sashing goes in the middle.

The smaller sashing goes on the outside of the row. The chicken row has 3 chickens facing right and 3 chickens facing left. For the Bunting Row… you will sew the ribbon row first then the bunting row with the sashing in between. Sew the ribbon to the top of the bunting.

Once you have all the blocks sewn together… you will sew the rows together. Watch the direction of your rows so you have them facing the correct direction. Sew the side borders then top and bottom borders. Now this quilt is off to the quilters for some beautiful stitches. Please share and watch the videos and tutorials. Enjoy sewing these lovely blocks together and join us next time for some more happy sewing!!

Happy Sewing!!
